This means that your tires should have sufficient tread, maintain proper inflation, and not show any signs of damage or aging. Here’s what to look for to make sure your tires are healthy:

Tread
The U.S Department of Transportation recommends replacing your tires when your tread depth gets down to 2/32 of an inch. While not everyone may have a tread measuring tool, the “Penny Test” is much easier and only requires a regular penny.. Stick a penny in the tread of your tire. If you can see Lincoln’s head, it's time for new tires.

Proper Inflation
In the sill of your door, you can find the factory recommended tire pressure for the tires on your vehicle. This information takes the weight, balance, and performance of your vehicle in mind. Ensuring your tires are set at the proper PSI helps your vehicle achieve its intended performance and handling. We recommend that you check your tire pressure at least once per week.

Aging
Old tires may appear gray in color, and they may even have tiny cracks along the sidewalls. If you notice that your tires are aging, even if they have sufficient tread depth, we recommend replacing aging tires because they’re prone to unexpected failure. In addition, if your tires are more than eight years old, we recommend a tire replacement.

Damage
Your tires take a beating when you go over bumps in the road, including potholes. This impact can cause bubbles in your sidewall. Unfortunately these bubbles mean it's time to replace the tire with the bubble in the sidewall.

How Often Should You Get New Tires?

We recommend replacing your tires every six years, or when your tires no longer pass the Penny Test ( 2/32 of an inch).
