Performance Features in the Well-Equipped and Capable 2024 RAM 1500
The RAM 1500 pickup truck has been delivering award-winning performance, capability, style, and technology for several years. In the competitive full-size pickup truck market, it doesn’t get much better than the RAM 1500, and the new 2024 models will deliver more trend-setting features - especially in the upcoming RAM 1500 REV fully-electric truck.
Drivers who prefer a pickup with an internal combustion engine will be perfectly satisfied with the available options that provide plenty of pep and towing capability. Gilroy CDJR near Hollister and San Martin features the RAM 1500 and the rest of the capable and powerful RAM truck lineup.
Three Combustion Engine Powertrains
The RAM 1500 is available with three engine options. The entry-level engine is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 305 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. You’ll find this engine in the Tradesman models along with the Lone Star, Big Horn, and Rebel. These trims have standard rear-wheel drive and available four-wheel drive.
The 5.7L HEMI V8 engine is standard in the Laramie and Limited trim. It’s available in the entry-level models. If you choose the HEMI engine, you’ll get 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. In 2023, RAM offered a 3.0-liter diesel, but this engine is no longer available in the 2024 models.
The most impressive engine is the Supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8. You can only find this engine in the RAM 1500 TRX trim. It delivers an eye-popping 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.
Impressive Capability and Safety Features
RAM offers the 1500 in two body styles: Quad Cab and Crew Cab. The Quad Cab has rear doors with half hinges with limited access to a small second row. The RAM 1500 Crew Cab is a spacious two-door model with 45.2 inches of legroom in the second row. Many higher trim levels are only available in Crew Cab models. The Quad Cab is only available with a 6-foot-4-inch bed, while the Crew Cab offers the choice of the six-foot bed or a 5-foot-7-inch bed.
The 2024 RAM 1500 towing capacity maxes at 12,750 pounds in models equipped with the 5.7-liter HEMI engine. The trucks with the 3.6-liter Pentastar engine have a maximum towing capacity of 7,730 pounds. The payload capacity is 2,300 pounds in the RAM 1500 Tradesman with a Quad Cab and long box.
Along with the premium engine options, the RAM 1500 also has an outstanding collection of safety features. The 2023 RAM 1500 safety rating was at the top thanks to its innovative driver-assistive technology and superior build quality. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick rating came from features like High-Beam Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane-Keep Assist. As the 2024 model year will be similarly equipped, it’s safe to say that crashworthiness tests will continue to be at the top of the pack.
